17 AdWords Keyword Status Explained!

The status of AdWords keywords indicates whether the keywords are active or not. If the keywords do not work well or do not work at all, the state of the keywords tells us why.

We can categorize the status of AdWords keywords in three according to what they say.

How to check the status of AdWords keywords?

Sign in to your AdWords account.
Click on " Keywords " on the menu of the page on the left.
Look at the column " status " which indicates the current status of the keywords.

Different AdWords Keyword Status

There are seventeen different keyword states in AdWords. Here are the explanations for each status.

Paused campaign: Because you have suspended the campaign, the keywords are inactive. These keywords can not trigger ads.
Campaign pending: If you are planning your campaign to start a date, the keywords are inactive until the campaign is active.
Campaign deleted: Since you deleted / deleted the campaign, the keywords are inactive.
Campaign Completed: The keywords are inactive because the campaign is complete and is now inactive.
Paused ad group: If you pause a group of ads, the keywords in this ad group become inactive and stop showing ads.
Ad group deleted: If you delete an ad group, the keywords in this ad group become inactive and stop showing ads.
Paused: You have paused this keyword. Therefore, it is inactive.
Deleted: You deleted this keyword. Therefore, it is inactive.
Approved: Google has reviewed and accepted the keyword. The broadcast of ads is eligible
Eligible: The qualifying keyword status means that the keyword is active and can serve ads.
In Review: Google is still reviewing your keyword. The keyword is inactive and can not trigger any ads until it is approved.
Below the first page bid estimate: the keyword is active. He shows ads. But ads are not visible on the first page of Google search results.
Denied: Ads not accepted by Google do not comply with advertising guidelines and policies. You'll find more details about the violation when you hover over the balloon.
Suspended Site: Keywords may be inactive if the website linked to ad groups of these keywords violates advertising rules.
Low search volume: Google disapproves keywords with low search volume. Google considers these keywords irrelevant to users.
Rarely illustrated because of a low level of quality: if the keywords have a low quality level, these keywords are not allowed to run ads. Find out how to improve the quality level.
Some page matches: If a keyword matches only a few pages of Display Network content, Google temporarily suspends that keyword.
